Concurrent ELT Sessions 4 – Developing Cultural Sensitivity & Awareness in Language Teaching

The fourth round of Concurrent Sesssions in ELT organised by the DBE continued with two new sessions. One of them was entitled Developing Cultural Sensitivity and Awareness in Language Teaching presented by the DBE instructors David Boddington and Liliana Seçer on May 17, 2017. As we all know but sometimes disregard in order to cover the topics to be asked in the exams, culture should be regarded as an integral component in language teaching and learning. In the session some useful ideas to incorporate culture into our lessons were introduced. The importance of developing culture sensitivity and awareness – the skills which are necessary for our students in order them to become linguistically and communicatively competent users of English was emphasised.
